A group of students involved in Skills USA attended a fall leadership conference at Seven Springs in October 2011. Skills USA is a national nonprofit organization serving high school students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. At the leadership conference the students attend various classes on topics such as problem solving, leadership, time management and organization. Several schools compete in program related contests as well. |

This year the Interact members of ICTC held the 11th Annual District Governor’s Brunch. The District Governor’s Brunch is an event which is planned and presented by the members of the Interact Club of ICTC. The brunch is in honor of the District Governor of Rotary and recognizes the youth programs of Rotary. The brunch is a great opportunity for members to practice their presentation and leadership skills as well as get to know the Rotarians of Indiana. In attendance were Interact members, local Rotarians, local Superintendents, and Rotary District Governor Elect Jeannie Morrison. The brunch is held at the ICTC and is catered by the Culinary Arts Program of ICTC. |

On Wednesday, May 11, 2011 ICTC held its annual Tech Show. This was the 7th annual Tech Show and it celebrated the Indiana County Technology Center's 30th Anniversary. The Tech Show featured the advancements in technology of computer and electronics, multi-media designing, motorcycles/race cars/sports cars, health trends, construction, and manufacturing processes. There were give-away's, door prizes, and refreshments given. |

ICTC Music Video – Digital Media Technology students planned, produced and directed a music video to the song Dynamite by Taio Cruz. Students from all program areas had the opportunity to participate in the music video. These candid photos include the DMT video crew working with the dance talent in perfecting their dance moves and the actual video production. |

The Regional Pennsylvania High School Computer Fair is an annual event that highlights Pennsylvania high school students' application skills and computer knowledge. ARIN Intermediate Unit #28 hosts the regional event each year at the Hadley Student Union Building on the IUP campus. This year’s regional computer fair was held on March 9, 2011. Pictured are students from Digital Media Technology and Graphics and Electronic Media program areas who participated in and won many events in the competition. First place winners are eligible to compete in the State Pennsylvania High School Computer Fair to be held on May 24, 2011 at Dickinson College in Carlisle Pennsylvania. |

MEET-U. A Mobile Energy Education Training Unit sponsored by Drake Well. It is a mobile exhibit which visits communities to educate them on the oil and gas industry. They recently visited the ICTC courtesy of Penns Manor High School. |

On Friday, May 6th, 2011 students from Cosmetology participated in the Horace Mann carnival again this year. The carnival took place at Blue Spruce Park. This was a community service event. They did face painting and also did temporary airbrush tattoos. They were very busy through out the entire evening with even some adults getting their faces painted or temporary airbrush tattoos. |

On April 19th, 2011 students from WT, CARP, EO and MA went to Forbes Road CTC and participated in a Construction Career Day. Students were able to see what is done in the field of construction and how some of the work can be applied. Members of the industry were there to show the students what some aspects of the field involved. |

On Friday, March 25th, 20ll the ICTC Skill USA members and Interact members held the first Walking Taco Social Event and Fundraiser. Every student in the building had the opportunity to come to the lobby, purchase walking tacos and cans of pop, and socialize. Skills USA provided and organized the sale of the walking tacos. Proceeds from the walking tacos benefited Skills USA Student Account. Interact members provided and organized the sale of the pop. Proceeds from the pop benefited the Indiana Relay for Life. Together the two clubs organized a great event for the school. Response from the student body was so overwhelmingly positive that plans are already being made for next year. |

Digital Media Technology students created these movie posters to support the movie theme used during 9th grade tours at our school. Students used their creative talents to design their projects and demonstrated their skill in using Adobe Photoshop to create the final project. All posters were on display in the classroom when students toured the digital media technology program area. In addition to the movie posters, DMT students created a movie theater atmosphere to show their movie previews and feature presentation of the digital media technology area. Touring students were treated to movie theater popcorn and a movie ticket souvenir. |

Shortly following the ninth grade tours, interested students had a chance to come back and shadow program areas at the ICTC. They could spend some time in two different program areas of their choice to gain a better knowledge of the ICTC curriculum as well as to have the chance to see the students interact on a day to day basis. |

The ICTC Chapter of the National Technical Honor Society sponsored a “Slime the Teacher” fundraiser. ICTC faculty and staff agreed to participate and students voted for the teacher to be “slimmed” by putting money into a container. The winner (person with the most money) was slimmed at a school assembly on March 4, 2011. The student’s raised over $300.00 which will be donated to the Pathway Homeless Shelter in Black Lick. The principal’s secretary, Courtney Gardner and Robert Picirrillo, the Learning Facilitator, were good sports as randomly drawn students and teachers had the honor of “slimming” them. |

In December 2010 and January 2011, ninth grade students from Indiana County came to the Indiana County Technology Center to tour the facility and learn about the fourteen program areas offered. Students at ICTC worked hard to prepare the informational tours for the ninth grade students to obtain career information. In addition to the career information received, the purpose of the tours was to make the students aware of the ICTC as a partner school and the opportunities it offers. Choosing a career offered at the ICTC can make a student’s dream seem more like reality. That dream could range from being a professional director to a career as an amazing mechanic. |

The Jimmy Stewart Museum in Indiana honored actor Patrick Wayne and his late father, John Wayne, with the Harvey Award on October 23, 2010. It was the first time the award has gone to a father and son, saluting the fact that both Waynes appeared in movies alongside Jimmy Stewart. Digital Media Technology students produced a video tribute of the actors which was featured at the ceremony. Jenna Letham and Steve Sensebaugh attended the awards ceremony along with Carol Fry, ICTC director. |

Several schools compete in program related contests as well. This year the ICTC received first place in a t-shirt design competition. Since they were awarded first place their t-shirt design will be used next year as the logo for the t-shirts given to all participants of the leadership conference. ICTC participants also received first place in the banner contest, second place in the door sign contest and festive pumpkin carving contest, and third place in a "penny drop" competition. |

Welding Technology made these shackle chairs for the Pennsylvania State Police. They will be used by the officers to keep rowdy persons detained. All of the welding students participated in their construction. |

ICTC STUDENTS SHOW THEIR STEELER PRIDE! As a class project using their Photoshop skills, the Digital Media Technology class created Steeler theme posters to support the team. In addition, ICTC Steeler fans dressed in black and gold to have their photographs added to the Steeler photo wall. Photos were creatively edited by Digital Media Technology students.

On Wednesday, November 17, 2010 four students from the Graphics and Electronic Media Program were interviewed by Todd Marino at the WDAD Radio Station in Indiana. Hannah Nehrig (Homer Center), Tiffany Weston (Marion Center), Mariah Decker and Brandi Stiles (United), represented ICTC and talked about the upcoming 9th grade tours and the skills they are obtaining while attending the Graphics Program. They were given the opportunity to promote the informative, but fun atmosphere that will be displayed during 9th grade tours and some of the give-aways that are planned for ICTC visitors as well. Topics also included why 9th grade students should consider enrollment at the ICTC in a program that best matches their own interests, abilities, skill level, and career goal. |

On Friday, December 17, 2010 the ICTC National Technical Honor Society hosted 40 Indiana County Head Start children for an evening with Santa. The Head Start children had the opportunity to visit with Santa and have their photo taken. The National Technical Honor Society students had a craft table set up and the children could color pictures related to the Holiday season. Fun was had by all and Holiday cookies were provided to the children and their families. |

On the 23 of November, students from Welding Technology, Masonry, Carpentry, and Electrical Occupations program areas went to the building site of Sovereign Grace Church of Indiana to observe the construction of a commercial building. |

The annual Indiana Free Library Evening in the Stacks fundraiser was held on November 12, 2010 The students of Culinary Arts had the opportunity to participate in the event by providing a light dinner for the guests. Patrons enjoyed a chili buffet consisting of a southwest salad and chili in a cornbread bowl. Buffet toppings included jalapeno peppers, scallions, bell peppers, banana peppers, black olives, cheddar cheese, Monterey jack cheese, sour cream and tomatillos. The students assisted guests in loading up their chili bowls with the delicious toppings and assisting with seating. |

On October 14, 2010, the students of Collision Repair Technology went on a field trip to Smail Collision Center located on Route 30 in Greensburg, PA. Smails employs approximately 60 people which include seven post graduate CRT students working as technicians. The manager greeted the students, briefly explained operations of the center and distributed t-shirts to each student. Students toured each department of the collision center where technicians explained the responsibilities and operation of the department. The tour of Smail Collision Center has been a great experience for the students of CRT and gave them real life exposure. |

On September 24, 2010, the students of Graphics and Electronic Media (GEM) and Digital Media Tech (DMT) went on a field trip together. They took a tour of PNC Park, the stadium of the Pittsburgh Pirates. While there, the students toured the field, batting cage, media room, press box, and many other places. After the tour finished, the students were allowed to take pictures of the Waterfront. For lunch, the students got to choose between two different restaurants to eat at; Calico Jack’s and The Jerome Bettis Grill. This field trip was a great way to start off the school year. |

On October 13, 2010, the American Red Cross sponsored ICTC’s annual blood drive at the Indiana County Technology Center. The Health Occupation Technology students were excited and committed to this event. These students sponsored at least one blood drive a year for the past ten years. This community service project collected 45 units of blood for the American Red Cross. |

The Challenge Program is a student incentive program designed to make a connection between students in high school and the business community. Supporting businesses provide cash awards to students who achieve specific goals in high school. High School sophomores, juniors, and seniors are rewarded with cash prizes up to $250 in the following categories: Most Community Service, Academic Excellence, Best Attendance and Academic Improvement. |
