NEW FACES HIGHLIGHT ICTC'S NEW YEAR:
2007-08 Student Reporters Announced
(October 5, 2007) . . .The school year is off to an exciting start at Indiana County Technology Center (ICTC) and we have a dynamic team to cover events and keep you informed! ICTC student reporters are eager to begin this year’s school news with this first column and by telling a little bit about themselves.
Matt Mano is returning as a student reporter and is a senior at Purchase Line High School enrolled in the ICTC Computer Systems Technology program. Activities at ICTC keep Matt busy since he is active in Interact and Tech Prep. Matt enjoys reading, writing, and working with computers when he isn’t working part-time at Luigi’s Restaurant and Pizza Shop in Clymer. After he graduates, Matt is planning to attend IUP and pursue an English Education degree.
Jennifer Harvey is a senior at United High School and enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at ICTC. Along with being one of the Indiana Gazette student reporters, Jennifer also holds a distinction as one of ICTC’s new student ambassadors. After graduation, she plans on attending college at IUP to further study culinary arts.
Sarah DeVelario is a junior from Blairsville High School enrolled in the Graphics and Electronic Media (GEM). She participated in the Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo & Conference as a member of GEM’s Team Graphics. Sarah is a member of the Interact Club and, this summer participated in the Rotary Youth Leadership Conference. In her spare time Sarah enjoys writing short stories and poems which led to her interest in becoming a student reporter.
Next, Haley Lichtenfels is a junior from United High School and is enrolled in the Graphics and Electronic Media program. Along with being an ICTC reporter, Haley’s is an active member of the ICTC Key Club, a mentor for Outdoor Odyssey, and a Twirler for United Majorettes. Among all of these activities she enjoys spending time with friends and family, and designing projects. Her future plans are to attend Penn College of Technology to major in Print Press management and to minor in Graphic Design.
Another of our new reporters is Renee Rea. She is a junior at Indiana Senior High School and in her second year in the Masonry program. Renee is involved in the student Home Builders Association where she is the secretary and the reporter, and participates in the Tech Prep program at ICTC. Outside of school, she likes reading, writing, and arts and crafts. Renee also enjoys her current employment at the Ironwood Grille.
Sami Pittman is a sophomore student enrolled in the Culinary Arts program. This is her first year as a newspaper reporter for the gazette. In the evenings, she attends to her 10 th grade classes at Homer-Center where she enjoys the sign language club and is a member of the marching band as a color guard. In her spare time she delivers the Indiana Gazette, reads, and writes poetry.
You will be hearing more from ICTC throughout this year and the team of dynamic reporters is looking forward to a great school year!
