KEY CLUB ACTIVE AT ICTC

(February 21, 2008) . . .The ICTC Key Club is the newest organization at the school that brings meaning to the school’s mission statement, “Educating for a competitive edge!” Having the competitive edge in today’s job market means that along with academics and competencies, individuals need leadership and teamwork skills that are developed through the many organizational activities and special events sponsored by the ICTC student organizations, such as the Key Club.

Sponsored by the Indiana Kiwanis Club, this student organization is committed to providing a positive alternative to challenging influences that confront youth today. Under the guidance of Ms. Erin Eisenman, club advisor, the students participate in activities that develop valuable leadership skills while they work together in community service and benefiting the children of Indiana County.

The Key Club “is an international, student-led organization which provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character, and develop leadership." Its vision is “to develop competent, capable, and caring leaders through the vehicle of service."

The Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. What makes Key Club so successful is that teaches leadership through serving others.

Today, the Key Club exists on more than 5,000 high school campuses, primarily in the United States and Canada. However, the growth of the Key Club experience has become international as it expands across the world.

Since its foundation in May of 1925, the Key Club continues to grow. In these groups, thousands of students are receiving training in leadership and service. These organizations hold their own annual conventions for fellowship, to coordinate the efforts of individual clubs, to exchange ideas, and to recognize outstanding service of clubs or individual with appropriate awards.

"Children: Their Future, Our Focus" is the Key Club International's major emphasis program. It unites Key Clubs under the banner of service that deals with the most important part of our community, our youth. Focusing on the personal development and social interaction of children, Key Club members can help them learn through mentoring, making friends, and working together. As children are taught to work with others, Key Club members open the doors to their future.

ICTC’s Key Club has been active for three years and continues to grow each year. There is a morning club and afternoon club to accommodate both school sessions. The ICTC Key Club membership includes:
