INTERACT CLUB HOLDS INDUCTION CEREMONY
(October 31, 2008)... The Interact Club of the Indiana County Technology Center held their annual Induction Ceremony for their new members on Monday, October 20 at the Rustic Lodge.
Interact is Rotary’s student leadership club and is just one of several student organizations at the Indiana County Technology Center. To become a member of Interact, the student must first show an interest in joining the club. However, achieving a membership isn’t that simple. All Interact members must pledge to maintain a 3.0 or greater grade point average, as well as, maintain good school attendance and a clean disciplinary record. They must also agree to attend at least three of the many club service projects that are held throughout the school year.
The induction ceremony consisted of both the pinning and candle-lighting traditions. A very important part of the ceremony is to induct the newly-elected Interact Club Officers. This year’s officers for the AM session are president, Jared Cramer, a Welding Technology junior, from Penns Manor. Secretary is Autumn Patterson a Marion Center sophomore enrolled in Digital Media Technology. Zack Barnett, a sophomore from Homer Center, holds the office of Treasurer. The PM session officers include President, Tiffany Bozo, Automotive Technology junior. Secretary is Megan Hall, a junior enrolled in Collision Repair Technology. Katelyn Beatty is the treasurer and is a senior cosmetology student. All three officers attend Saltsburg High School.
This year was extra special during the pinning ceremony because not only was Mrs. Jones, the club’s coordinator there to pin new members officers but they had two special guests, District Governors of Rotary, Mrs. Mary Berge and Mr. Ivar Berge.
The Interact Club, the administration of the ICTC, and the Indiana Rotary welcome the new members of the Interact Club for the school year 2008-09 and look forward to their many service projects.
At Chestnut Ridge on Friday evening, October 24, a video produced by Digital Media students was showcased during the ceremony for Fabian. The Jimmy Stewart Museum awarded Fabian with The Harvey Award. Students from the ICTC Digital Media Technology program produced a tribute video to the life of Fabian and his films with Jimmy Stewart. The students that produced this video are Andrew Patterson, Autumn Patterson, Tyler Zorak, and Jenna Letham. Two students from Masonry, Jacob Scott and Joshua Harper helped to create the cement slab that they took to the ceremony for Fabian to make his hand imprint in. The Indiana County Technology is very proud of all the work that the students have done in order to contribute to this event.
The Indiana County Technology Center will be holding a Parent Planning Night on Wednesday, November 12. All interested ICTC students and their parents are invited to attend this informative session. Information will be provided on financial aid, dual enrollment, and emerging jobs in Indiana County. The session is free but those interested in attending should call ICTC’s guidance office at 724-349-6700 ext. 143 to register.
