The ICTC is beginning the new school year with many new faces among the different program areas. Along with new students, the ICTC has two new instructors to introduce to you.
Mr. Matthew Bornak is instructor to the brand new program Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC). Before coming to the ICTC, Mr. Bornak was a teacher in Pittsburgh at Steel Center Area Vocational Technical School. When I sat down with Mr. Bornak, he told me that he is very excited to be here and is looking to improve the enrollment in the program by community outreach. HVAC is a new addition this year, and there are a lot of projects and hands-on activities going on, Mr. Bornak tells me that one of his goals is to watch his students be successful. Outside of the ICTC, Mr. Bornak loves to go cycling, reading, writing, and spending time with family and friends.
Welding Technology also has a new instructor this school year. The ICTC welcomes Mr. James Allshouse. Before coming to the ICTC, Mr. Allshouse was in active duty army/army reserves, attended Penn College for 4 years receiving his degree in welding, fabrication, and engineering technology. While getting his degree he was employed as a welder. Mr. Allshouse says that the best thing about working here is “giving the students the ability to leave the ICTC and get a very well paying job right out of high school.” He is looking forward to “seeing where his students go” and “can’t wait to see the positive influence he has in their lives.” Mr. Allshouse also shares some hobbies of hunting, playing video games, and spending time with family and friends.
