LOCAL BUSINESS MAKES A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE WITH ICTC STUDENTS
(February 26, 2010)... Local businesses make a positive difference with ICTC students by being involved interviewing, job shadowing, cooperative education, donating supplies and equipment and volunteering their time in program craft committees, guest speaking or Pennsylvania Skills Assessment (NOCTI) judging.
Recently, Tri-star Motors donated a truck load of new auto parts to the Indiana County Technology Center (ICTC). Tom Kowalski and Rob Gibson from Tri-Star Motors delivered the parts, with an estimated retail value in excess of $46,000, to the ICTC on February 16th. The new parts donated are a result of excess inventory and unused items. Tri-Star Motors is an advocate of vocational-technical training, and an active supporter of the Indiana County Technology Center. Tom Kowalski is a previous graduate of the ICTC and now gives back to the school as much and as often as he can.
The donated parts will be used to help educate students in the ICTC’s Automotive Technology and Collision Repair Technology programs. These parts include body panels, brake parts, air filters, spark plugs, alternators, as well as many others.
The Indiana County Technology Center offers many great services to the public. The Cosmetology salon is open most Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 8:30-10:45 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. All services are performed by students with reasonable cost covering materials only. Confirmed telephone appointments are preferred. Please call 724-349-6700 ext. 105 to make an appointment.
Under the management of Chef Dennis Gehly and Chef Bob Piccirillo, ICTC’s Culinary Arts instructors, “The Restaurant at the ICTC” is open to the public every Tuesday and Wednesday for breakfast (9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.) and for lunch (Noon to 1:00 p.m.). Located right beside ICTC’s lobby, you can stop in for a delicious “made-from-scratch” meal in a relaxing atmosphere, while the ICTC students take your orders and serve you. Or, you can have your meals prepared for “take-out.” There are many ways to order take out, you could call the restaurant at 724-349-6700 ext. 151, or you could stop in and place an order.
