ICTC WELCOMES A NEW YEAR

(October 29, 2010)...With so many events happening at the Indiana County Technology Center (ICTC), we needed a group of dedicated students to report the news to the community each week.  This year five artistic and dedicated students volunteered to be school news reporters. The reporters are from different school districts and program areas at the ICTC.  These students have volunteered to take time out of their busy schedules so everyone will be able to hear what is going on at the Indiana County Technology Center.  Excited about writing this year, the reporters begin their first column by telling you a little bit about themselves

Rosa Bish is a junior in the Health Occupations Technology program at the ICTC and attends Purchase Line High School. Some of her extra-curricular activities include Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Skills USA, varsity girls basketball, and varsity softball. In her spare time she enjoys hunting, fishing, firefighting, and mudding. Her future plans are to become a Registered Nurse.

Cory McAfoos, a senior in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) from Blairsville High School. Cory is a member of the Bobcats football and wrestling teams, the Pennsylvania Builders Association, and Skills USA. In his down time he enjoys fishing, hunting and lifting weights. His future plans are to attend Westmoreland County Community College (WCCC) for HVAC and engineering.

Rich Thomas, a sophomore at Saltsburg, is currently enrolled in the HVAC program area at the ICTC. Some of his hobbies are lifting weights and spending time with his friends. Track, eco-action, and working are just some of the extra-curricular activities he is involved in.  His future plans include becoming an HVAC Tech after he attends college.

Tiffany Weston, a senior at Marion Center Jr.-Sr. High School is in the Graphics and Electronic Media program here at the ICTC. Tiffany is involved in Interact club, Girl Scouts, Jr. ROTC, National Technical Honor Society, Remembering Adam, and Team Graphics.  In her spare time, Tiffany enjoys reading, spending time with her family and friends, watching movies, and listening to music.  She also enjoys helping out in the community with her church and youth group. Her future plans include attending college to become an early education teacher or a graphic designer.

Finally, I would like to introduce myself.  I am Autumn Carpenter, a senior at Indiana Area High school. I am enrolled in the Computer Systems Technology program at the ICTC.  I am involved in Skills USA, Athena and O Ambassadors clubs. In my free time I enjoy baking, reading, writing, enjoying the company of my friends and family, and going to church. Elementary Education is the major that I want to study while I attend college.

The variety that all of us will be able to contribute to the Schools and Scribes articles this year will allow our readers to gain an appreciation and understanding of all the career and technical activities happening at the Indiana County Technology Center.  Even though we all represent different sending schools and different ICTC programs, we are all “Educating for a Competitive Edge!” at the ICTC.
