ICTC SLIMEFEST
(April 15, 2011)...On March 4, 2011 the Indiana County Technology Center’s National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) held a fundraiser for the Blacklick Homeless Shelter. This was no ordinary fundraiser; this was a SLIME THE TEACHER fundraiser.
The students at the Indiana County Technology Center (ICTC) got the chance to put money in the teacher/faculty member’s basket that they wanted to see slimed in front of the whole school. Also students could buy chances to be the one to slime the teacher! The morning and afternoon sessions at the ICTC had their own separate baskets so that they could each have the chance to see a teacher slimed. The teacher/faculty member that raised the most money was the big winner, or loser in this case. In the morning session the students choose to see Principal’s Secretary Courtney Gardner slimed and in the afternoon session Learning Facilitator Bob Piccirillo beat out all the others to be slimed. NTHS President Kelly Haase said, “the assembly was a success. We were able to raise money for the homeless shelter and the students and faculty seemed to have a lot of fun.”
The NTHS decided to do a fundraiser for the homeless shelter because while the families stay at the shelter there isn’t a lot to do. So the NTHS wanted to help by raising money to buy a gaming system and some games so that the families and children would be able to feel a bit more at home. The NTHS raised a grand total of $391.41. The NTHS viewed this fundraiser as a success and they hope to raise money for a worthy cause next year.
The ICTC would like to invite the community to attend our 7th Annual Tech Show on Wednesday, May 11 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The Tech Show features representatives from business and industry, the latest in computers & electronics, motorcycles, sports cars, race cars, multimedia designing, health trends, and many more. For more information call the ICTC at 724-349-6700.
