AUTO TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS COMPETE
(April 8, 2011)...The Indiana County Technology Center would like to congratulate Auto Technology seniors, Matt Martin and Victor Sardone (both of Homer Center High School) on their first place finish at the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) Western PA Automotive Competition on February 10th.
High schools and career and technical schools from across the region sent two-student teams to compete on a 100-question written exam and six hands-on stations. The hands-on stations, which related to Master Tech areas of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification, included engine repair/engine performance; brakes; steering and suspension; and electrical.
Matt and Victor each received a $500 scholarship to CCAC and a plaque for the ICTC. When asked about the competition results, Victor replied, “It felt really good to beat out every other school in Western, PA. I am very grateful for the training that I receive at the ICTC and look forward to my future success.”
The annual competition and training classes are part of CCAC’s continuing partnerships with regional career and technical schools, helping to improve the quality of secondary instruction in the trades and introducing students to the opportunities at CCAC. The college offers certificates and associate’s degrees in Automotive Technology as well as training programs certified by Chrysler, Ford and General Motors.
Mark your calendars; the ICTC is celebrating their 30th Anniversary (1980-2010) at the 7th Annual Tech Show on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Check out the latest in computers and electronics, multi-media designing, motorcycles, race cars, sports cars, health trends, manufacturing processes and many more.
