Tech Prep is based on one simple idea: Students, parents, educators, and employers work together to help students graduate prepared for good, high-paying, technical jobs. By working together, everyone wins. It's an idea that makes sense and a program that works for you.

Tech Prep programs provide:

  • A coordinated high school to college pathway that leads to an associate degree, two-year certificate, or apprenticeship
  • A signed written agreement between a high school and a college outlining a curriculum pathway for students
  • Technical preparation in a career field, such as the state-of-the-art technologies used in manufacturing, information science, transportation, health care, and agriculture
  • Advanced academics in math, science, and communication and advanced technical skills
  • Work-based learning opportunities, such as co-op, job shadowing, internships, and apprenticeships
  • Training and employment opportunities
  • Support and counseling to link high school to college

ICTC currently has 11 program areas that are eligible for Tech Prep services:

Students who plan on continuing their education beyond high school in an approved post-secondary degree program (technological college, academic college, trade school or certified apprenticeship program) are eligible to participate in the Tech Prep Program. Eligible students must also complete a specific course curriculum at ICTC and their sending school. Students receive career guidance from the Tech Prep Liaison. By being part of the ICTC Tech Prep Winning Team, students have the opportunity to enhance their high school experience and enter post-secondary institutions with advanced standing.
